Congratulation Year 8 Boys

On Sunday our year 8 boys went to Tauranga to played in the sevens rugby tournament . They went for 1 week and came back on Friday night 6:45 pm. There were 32 rugby teams that were there competing. They played 12 games and won all 12 games.

Pt England rugby boys played their first game against Cambridge school and won by 38-5. Mr Burt made an announcement that they have won their first game and will be playing their 2nd game and hoping that they will win.

I was very proud of our Year 8 boys . My favorite part was when they walked in like champions and Jonty was holding the trophy in his hand. I felt like our school was famous.

Water Fight

“Yey!” Water fight as I ran and got change, When I got back we had to line up into two lines then we started to walk down to the bottom Field and sat down to wait for miss Tito to tell us what to do. Then she said to Henry “please give me your shoes” to make a square and find a place to sit the we had to face the other way and don’t look back. There were to other people standing at the back holding the slingshot as Miss Tito called 1 person by person to come and shot 1 water balloon.

After that Miss Tito told us two stand up and come and get a water balloon and go find a space to
get ready to through the water balloon at some one. I through it at Cael and she through it at me it felt so cool.

Having a water fight is a very fun idea. It felt like I wanted to go for a swim. But is was a Sunny day. My favorite part of the day was when we had to run around thoroughgoing the balloon at people. And I hope we have it again.

M.I Test

Yesterday Room 22 students sat Multiple Intelligence Test. There are 8 Intelligences. Here are my top 3 strengths Self smart, People smart and Number smart. The intelligences I would need to work on are Body smart, Music smart and Nature smart.

Rugby League Session

On Wednesday 22nd of June Rm22 went on the courts to have Rugby League session with Sio Siua Taukeiaho. Sio Siua Taukeiaho plays for the 2011 Vodafone Junior Warriors Squad.

Once we got to the courts our teacher put us into four groups lining up behind one other. Our first game was called in and out. What you had to do in this game was try run as fast as you can from one side of the court to the other side. The first person in your group that comes back first and sitting down wins.

The second game was called kick tennis. What you had to do was try kick the ball for the other group to try couch if you run away from the ball your out if kick it to high or low your out .

What I liked about our rugby session was is how you have to kick the ball and the other team has to couch it. I really enjoy playing rugby league I cant wait till next time.

Science Roadshow

On the 9th of June the y7s & 8s went to Tamaki College's Science Roadshow.There were different themes like senses, heat, light and sound . When we got in the gate there were some classes already there. As soon we got in the hall there were two scientists there we did some experiments with purple liquid it went bubbly.

We got set off to go see some more experiments. I liked the one where you turn on the light you can see a skeleton and when you turn it off it’s gone. There was a heat experiments that you have to rub your hands together then put your hands on glass bowl and it goes up this tube to the other glass bowl.

At the Science Roadshow I had a great time there because my favourite experiments was when you sit in this chair and you pull this chain. Hopefully i get to go next time.

The Design Process

In room 22 we were going through the Design process to design a sign so that the New Entrance to seniors can all understand. We've been through the design the process step by step to help us. The steps were Identify needs, Research, Generate ideas, Find solutions, Reflect and Evaluate.

The next step was to research on Internet for some images. When we had found our images about the sign of on Internet.The images that we have found gave a really good idea to make my sign more interesting.

Generating ideas for a sign is important because.... if one idea doesn't work and the other does and have more information then you have to use it. And it's part of the design process, and it can help you get more creative ideas. I think lots of kids from 5 to upwards will understand. I feel proud of my design.

Swimming

For the last 2 weeks the y7s & 8s have been doing swimming lessons at lunch time at the Glen Innes swimming pools. If you were wondering why are we swimming its because we need to learn how to swim in life. Someone like me get lost out in the ocean and if I cant swim I might drown.

I was in Miss Dempster’s group and we did some actives like kicking the water with the board between my legs. Its was a little bit tricky to do because the board kept coming shooting up from the water. But it was also fun to do free style and have free time.

Next year I will be looking forward be a great swimmer and I also liked being in Miss Dempster’s group she is fun.
